The Peacestartup Foundation organizes a meeting with companies in collaboration with the London School of Economics and Brigard & Urrutia in Bogotá
Peacestartup Foundation organized a round table on March 6, 2019 in Bogotá, Colombia with the participation of representatives of BHR, LSE IDEAS and Brigard & Urrutia where different approaches to impact investments were shared, the importance of private sector participation to the strengthening of communities and the implementation of a Human Security Business Partnership Framework (HSBP) with the purpose of boosting local economies mainly in areas in conflict or post-conflict.
The private sector is a key partner in the growth of regional economies and the generation of opportunities for its inhabitants. This sector has the capacity to impact on the construction of peace in the territory where they are established through investments that generate capacities in the communities and these capacities are transformed into better conditions of human security for the community. The event was attended by representatives of the financial, transport, hydrocarbons, international cooperation, insurance, business consulting, construction and mining sectors.
In Colombia the private sector has the interest to work in the consolidation of peace, the stabilization of territories and human security, modifying the logic of delivering resources to people without a concrete plan in the long term, towards one in which they are created the necessary conditions for communities to take advantage of and obtain capacities according to their environment that allow them to improve their living conditions from the base.
In order for the private sector to generate the greatest possible social impact, alliances between companies, the government and local communities are required, and a clear understanding of the challenges involved in working in complex contexts such as Colombia or other countries with similar symptoms.
Faced with the challenge of connecting business agendas and the needs of communities in the territory, the framework Human Security Business Partnership seeks to create a space for understanding and building from the ground up.

Peacestartup Foundation organizó una mesa redonda el 6 de marzo de 2019 en Bogotá, Colombia con la participación de representantes de BHR, LSE IDEAS y Brigard & Urrutia en donde se compartieron distintos enfoques sobre inversiones de impacto, la importancia de la participación del sector privado para el fortalecimiento de comunidades y la implementación de un marco de Human Security Business Partnership(HSBP) con el propósito de dinamizar las economías locales principalmente en zonas de conflicto o posconflicto.
El sector privado es un socio clave en el crecimiento de las economías regionales y la generación de oportunidades para sus habitantes. Este sector tiene la capacidad para impactar en la construcción de paz en el territorio donde se establecen mediante inversiones que generen capacidades en las comunidades y estas capacidades se transformen en mejores condiciones de seguridad humana para la comunidad. En el evento se contó con la presencia de representantes de los sectores financieros, transportes, hidrocarburos, cooperación internacional, seguros, consultoría empresarial, construcción y minero.
En Colombia el sector privado tiene el interés de trabajar en la consolidación de la paz, la estabilización de los territorios y la seguridad humana, modificando la lógica de entregar recursos a personas sin un plan concreto a largo plazo, hacia una en la que se creen las condiciones necesarias para que las comunidades aprovechen y obtengan capacidades de acuerdo a su entorno que les permitan mejorar sus condiciones de vida desde la base.
Para que el sector privado pueda generar el mayor impacto social posible se requiere de alianzas entre las empresas, el Gobierno y las comunidades locales, y una clara compresión sobre los retos que implica trabajar en contextos complejos como el de Colombia o otros países que presentan síntomas similares.
Frente al reto de conexión de las agendas empresariales y las necesidades de las comunidades en territorio, el marco de Human Security Business Partnership busca crear un espacio de entendimiento y construcción desde la base.
